Brand
Karuna
Karuna Chocolate are South Tyrol’s bean to bar chocolate pioneers. Katya and Armin were the first in the region to produce organic chocolate directly from cocoa beans. They sort, roast and grind selected beans from around the world in order to produce aromatic and pure chocolate in small batches.
Ethically grown, organic fine cocoa beans are from Latin America, Asia and Africa. As a sweetener, Karuna use fair trade organic raw cane sugar from Itajá, Brazil. The organic cocoa butter is pressed from Arriba Nacional cocoa from the area of Los Rios and Esmeraldas in Ecuador and Nacional from Peru. For the white chocolates containing fruit de-oiled almond flour from organically grown almonds is used. The fruits are organically grown and freeze-dried.
The design for the packaging (and the bar) is a freehand drawing that resembles cocoa fruits and leaves, and was created by Armin's younger brother Lorenz. The packaging is from certified natural papers, screen printed using vegetable oil colours and the inner sleeve is compostable.
