Description
The Mallano cacao plantation is located in El Rejón, Los Hidalgos, in the province of Puerto Plata in the north of the Dominican Republic.
It was founded by Antonio Martino Llano in 1931. After he passed away in 1943, his widow Leopoldina Rojas continued to plant coffee and cacao and the fermentation and export of cacao began in 1979.
Cacao Mallano has won the International Cacao Award 2011 at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris, and was selected as one of the top 20 cacaos in the world in 2019.
