Harana cocoa is unique due to its careful selection of beans from 8 different farms working with 100% Brazilian Criollo cocoa trees, a hybrid of Trinitario. In 2015, Mark O’campo and Kelly Go started “Auro” a local bean sourcing company with the aim of reviving the Filipino chocolate culture by focusing on premium quality cocoa. Louie, Auro’s field expert, visits farms frequently to assist with good agricultural practices, harvesting techniques, organic farming, and pest and disease control. Thanks to his efforts, the value and quality of Harana cocoa has improved considerably as well as the incomes of local farmers.
This Philippines 73% bar was awarded a Bean-To-Bar Europe Silver medal at the International Chocolate Awards 2021-2022, and Bronze by the Academy of Chocolate in 2022.
