Elemento was founded out of the desire to combine work with real meaning. The founders sought a fairer and more sustainable way of doing business – and found their answer in nature. The name Elemento is derived from their motto: “The source of all elements lies in nature.”

On their journey through the Amazon, they discovered a unique cacao in the indigenous Awajún communities: aromatic, original, and of exceptional quality – but without access to fair markets. Thus, Elemento was born – a brand that provides a platform for this special Amazon cacao. Today, Elemento works directly with over 500 smallholder farmers in the region.

The Awajún are one of the largest indigenous groups in Peru. They live in the Amazon region and are considered guardians of the forest. Their knowledge, combined with Elemento’s expertise, results in award-winning chocolates that reflect both heritage and terroir.

Elemento brings its coffee roasting expertise to the world of cocoa. To unlock the full flavor potential, Elemento offers various chocolate bars made from cocoa beans of the same origin – and batch. The recipe remains the same, only the roasting varies, with individual roasting profiles finely tuned to the characteristics of each bean. This creates very different aromas: sometimes fruity, sometimes nutty, sometimes floral.

Collaboration with the Awajún is essential, and through sustainable practices, reforestation efforts, and mindful processing, it can be ensured that cocoa cultivation is not only economically viable, but also strengthens food security, safeguards biodiversity, and preserves genetic diversity while protecting the forest. The result: bean-to-bar chocolate rooted in nature, culture, and care.
