Holy Cow chocolate, founded in 2021 and based in Ghent (Belgium), offers an exceptional chocolate experience with an assortment of fine and honest cacao & chocolate products in an eco-friendly packaging.
The two founders, Ellen and Luca, believe deeply in creating positive social impact by making sustainable choices and honest products. In 2015 they moved to Kerala (India) for 5 years to set up an honest cacao business that till today is run by them.
With expertise in the fermentation and drying process they directly source high-quality cacao beans from more than 200 small-scale cacao farmers ensuring them a stable and direct income.
In their cacao post-harvesting unit in India, they ferment and dry beans from the two different seasons (Dry & Monsoon) separately to bring out their so-called ”Seasonal Flavours”
They compare chocolate made with cacao of the rainy season (Jun – Sep), with cacao of the dry season (Nov – Jan), both grown with respect for nature in a beautiful biodiverse landscape. The subtle taste differences between the ‘Monsoon’ and the ‘Dry’ editions are surprising, natural and authentic
The cacao is grown in the Idukki hills in Kerala and receives the “Fine Flavour” award, a special category with special taste characteristics, but also with good traceability, good genetics, unique origin, good harvesting and post-harvesting practices, higher quality and certification.
Because of the fine taste and the consistent quality of their cacao beans, they have managed to give Indian cacao a place on the ‘specialty cacao’ market
