Dr. Arno Wielgoss and Dr. Frauke Fischer are the founding team of PERÚ PURO. They are tropical biologists with years of experience in Africa, Asia and Latin America. They have seen what rainforest destruction and poverty mean.
Rainforest protection in a bar.
PERÚ PURO don’t have long supply chains. They trade cocoa directly with their partner co-operative APECMU. This allows them to guarantee the farmers are paid the best prices above fair trade and organic rates.
Arno and Frauke visit Peru regularly to maintain direct contact with the farmers and to work together with them to further improve cocoa quality and to ensure biodiversity.
Agroforestry involves ground cover planting to prevent erosion, and mixing cocoa with bananas, vegetables, chicken and 30-40 different tree types. Agroforests do not have a drop in yield after 10-12 years, and with consistent controlling of fungi and pests have a lower loss of harvest compared with more intensive methods.

The cocoa is processed by the Swiss company Felchlin into multi-award winning chocolate bars.
All the bars are packed in Kompass’98 , where people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities can find assistance and support when they need it.
