Gran Palo Blanco is a variety endemic to the Chulucanas region, in northwest Peru, and is the only one to acclimatize to one of the hottest areas of the country, with only one rainy season per year. Long forgotten, this variety was reintroduced in 2008 by enthusiasts. The Norandino cooperative helps producers select the best cocoa trees, grown in agroforestry alongside mango, lemon and orange trees.
