The fazenda has been continuously owned by the Carvalho family since 1942 and was one of many cacao farms that the family originally owned and operated.

Since 1982, Fazenda Camboa has been owned and managed by Arthur Carvalho and Eduardo Carvalho. Through hard work and a strong commitment to sustainable cacao, the brothers have transformed Fazenda Camboa into the largest organic cocoa farm in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

The farms’ current goal is to supply chocolate makers around world with the highest quality organic cacao from Brazil. To meet their goal, in 2013 the Carvalho brothers and Jack Bell, who is the son-in-law of Arthur Carvalho, partnered to establish Cacao Bahia as the exclusive global sales and marketing arm of the farm.

Cacao Bahia enables the farm to work and interact directly with the world’s top craft chocolate makers who value the farm’s commitment to producing the highest quality and most consistent cacao in the world while also enabling the farm to command premium pricing for its cacao.
