Description
”Chuncho” is a word in Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas, and it literally means “shy and small”.
“Chuncho” is also the name of one of the world’s finest and rarest cocoa bean varieties. Only until 2 tons of this exclusive ultra-premium variety N°3 are harvested annually. These trees are more than 10 years old.
It is produced ecologically and under fair conditions in the southern part of Peru.
It was originally grown by the Matshiguengas indigenous people who used to live in the remote Rio Apurimac and Villa Virgen valleys of the Cusco region in the south of Peru at an altitude of about 3,500 meters above sea level. Cocoa is still grown there today.
Citrus, green tea, geranium, banana, chocolate, grass, custard apple and physalis. It´s a sensory revelation. Its low bitterness and an incredible creaminess makes this Chuncho variety stand out.
